At Bainbridge Mental Health we believe that every individual has the capacity to achieve greater mental, emotional, and physical health by engaging in practices that strengthen self-awareness, self-regulation, and resilience.
While many such practices exist (yoga, meditation, psychotherapy, medication therapy, etc.), not every practice will be effective for every individual.
After years of practicing clinical psychiatry and preventive medicine, Dr. Gonsoulin now specializes in Biofeedback training and Mindfulness training to help address a wide range of medical, mental, and performance related concerns.
Drawing from contemporary neuroscience, cognitive-behavioral principles, and contemplative traditions, Dr. Gonsoulin offers the following treatment options:
1. Biofeedback Training: Using real time measurements of heart rate and breathing to facilitate the process of "retraining" the nervous system to regulate physical and mental stress with greater ease.
2. Mindfulness Training: Providing personalized support in designing, implementing, and maintaining a mindfulness practice. Mindfulness is a state of being aware of and accepting of experiences in the mind and body, changing the way we perceive and respond to our environment.
For individuals with questions about psychiatric diagnosis and medication management, Dr. Gonsoulin meets with individuals on a limited, case-by-case basis with the goal of providing assessment and overall recommendations to the individual's primary care physician or other specialty care physicians for management.
